Hardwood comes in one of two Constructions. When installing Hardwood over a wood sub-floor you can use a solid 3/4" thick hardwood which can be sanded and stained numerous times. When Dealing with a concrete sub-floor, you can either glue down or float an engineered hardwood. Engineered floors can sometimes be sanded others can be screened lightly.
